Serial Monitor Reset

The "Eleven" is our Uno-equivalent Arduino-compatible board, but with a number of improvements including prototyping area, a mini-USB connector, LEDs mounted near the edge, and the D13 LED isolated using a FET. [Product page]

Arduino Uno (and thus our Eleven) auto reset due to a signal sent from the computer when the serial monitor is opened.
There is some discussion about this here:

You can either use other terminal software that lets you turn off flow control and thus drop in and out when required. This is a good one:

If you want to permanently disable the auto-reset on an Eleven this is also possible.

Look for a small solder jumper near the USB socket marked "RESET-EN". It looks like two rectangular copper pads joined together by a sliver of copper. If you carefully cut the sliver of copper between the two pads with a scalpel, auto-reset will be disabled. However you will need to press the "reset" button manually (or alternatively use an external programmer) in order to upload a new sketch.

To re-enable the auto-reset you can use a blob of solder to join the pads together again.
