Can't get serial to work

Post by headingwest » Sat Feb 23, 2013 11:17 pm

Hi, I'm trying and struggling with serial. Here is my code:

Code: Select all

void setup() {
  // initialize serial:
  Serial1.begin(9600);
  Serial.begin(9600);
}

void loop() {

    Serial.println("A");
    Serial1.println("B");
    delay(550);

}
When I click on the Arduino Serial Monitor nothing appears.

Also - the Arduino only lets me select COM1, by device manager uses COM8 (briefly) and then switches to COM7 (Leonardo). But I don't have the option to select COM8.

*** crickets chirping ***

Now it won't work on either computer. I've spent maybe 20 hours installing drivers and mucking around.

Back to Jaycar we go... some other mug can waste their time.
