N-drive module MOSFET choice

I have a Freetronics N-drive MOSFET module with the NTD5867NL MOSFET. I want to build a 16 channel board and I'm trying to understand what a MOSFET with such a high Rds was chosen for this Freetronics module ?

I believe the first mosfet is used to supply enough voltage to trip the second mosfet.

I too want to make a big board of these to control a bunch of data output pins.

Theres only one mosfet on the board.
