Re: Stepper Drivers

Hi, I'm the guy who effectively "runs" MMRUG. I've not yet tried a Freetronics EtherMega in place of a Mega with a standard RAMPS board, though I am sure I'll get around to it at some stage. I don't know of any firmware that will drive the Ethernet hardware, so that would effectively be left useless...

Re: Unable to get serial to work

First thing I would be doing is trying to put a delay (eg: 1 second) at the start of your sketch and seeing if this helps. It could be that things are firing off too fast and the newer Mac's don't start USB fast enough to see the data. Might not work, but IMO that would be about the only "tangible' ...

Re: Sorry for the silence

More and more of it is getting caught for moderation (meaning the average person doesn't see it), but we still get a fair bit that currently slips through the cracks. Hopefully that's going to change soon.

Sure Jon (who designed the board) will pipe up at some point when he's not flat out. ;)

Re: feedback on protomega

- not keen having the ICSP port plonked in the middle of the board - it seems more likely to have it get in the way of other components. They're advisory use only (ie: not connected to anything, like the holes around it, and can be used for non-ICSP uses). They line up with the ICSP pins underneath...

Re: Sorry for the silence

The issue is identifying they're a spammer, not so much identifying where they come from. We've got at least one legitimate contributor to the forum who has a .ru email address. We don't want to ban people who actually use a FreeTronics product and need help. You also can't block somalia's IP netblo...

Re: Sorry for the silence

Yeah been jumping on them when I see them. More and more are getting caught by the automated routines, but overall there's been a bigger increase in numbers, so we're seeing as much if not more. A forum without spam on it rates highly in their book, because they tend to get rated highly by Google in...

Re: SMD Soldering

If you can't find someone local, I suggest checking out the Connected Community Hacker Space - See http://www.hackmelbourne.org/ They're in Hawthorn (near Swinburne Uni/Glenferrie train station), so fairly central. Someone there should be able to help you make up something to fill your need. Disclai...

Re: safe to connect USB with DC IN selected

If you're worried, hook it all up and before you plug the USB connection in, then check for a voltage difference between the ground on the Mega/your 24V supply and the PC ground using a volt-meter. The only issue I can think of is if the AC ground pin is connected to the DC side on the PC and on the...
