Re: RELAY8: FET failure modes

Problem solved and it's my bad. The load is a solenoid. I did all my calculations based upon the AC ratings, but I was driving it with DC. I’ve checked the inrush and holding currents and on DC (hence no reactance) the load is much higher – and pop go the MOSFETs! I’m about to try a fit a bunch of r...

RELAY8: FET failure modes

Hi All, I suspect I may have damaged some of the 2N2007 FETs on a RELAY8 board, but the failure mode seems odd. The three channels that have failed will not turn off. At power on the red LED comes on, the attached device activates and functions as expected - but I cannot turn off the channels. Other...

Adding a latch to the watchdog

If you ever consider a version 2 of the watchdog timer could I suggest the addition of a latched version of the reset line? Sometimes it would be handy to be able to tell if the system restarted because of a watch dog reset (system hung or code didn't reset it properly), or if it just restarted (sys...

Re: E10 and strange problems

Thanks guys, much appreciated. I'm onto my second project now with many more planned, so I'm bound to strike this agin (and again, and again ..... :-) ) The references will be very useful.

Re: E10 and strange problems

And the man wins the prize!! Thanks Jon, exactly right. I stripped all the diagnostic and warning messages out and everything came good. I hadn't found the F() function, but now I can put them back in. What is the easiest way to get an estimate of the RAM that's going to be consumed? I'm happy with ...

E10 and strange problems

Hi All, I'm having a problem I can't get my head around and I'm hoping someone has some advice. I have a sketch for a solar pool heater controllers I'm building and I've hit a weird problem. I've isolated it down to a Serial.print statement which is in the following code (I'm testing the pachube str...

Re: Etherten + LCD - D4 contention

Certainly - here is an excerpt from the code. Hope it helps: <--------------<CUT>----------------> // include the library code: #include <LiquidCrystal.h> // initialize the library with the numbers of the interface pins LiquidCrystal lcd(8, 9, 4, 5, 6, 7); /******************************************...

Re: Using A6/A7

Thinking more about it this may be due to the board definition in the Arduino software system thinking the board I have doesn't have A6/A7 and quietly refusing to work with them. Any other ideas?

Using A6/A7

Hi, I have a project that is using a high number of digital output pins. Due to a last minute need for two more I've brought A6 and A7 up to the proto board I'm using and used the appropriate pinMode to set them as output pins - but to no avail. Is there a trick to using these pins I'm missing? I ca...

Re: Etherten + LCD - D4 contention

Not totally sure - but this combination is working for fine for me. The trick might be that I have a card in the slot and don't plan on removing it. I can R/W the SD card and the display works. Might be a bugger if you plan to remove the card and want to detect when it is available - but if you don'...
