Re: How to Set DMD Brightness

Hi Geoff, Just a couple more things to do and I think we can put this one to bed. The PWM system is about 5 times faster than standard port addressing on the PIC, which means a longer "ON" time is possible. The consequence of the improved scan speed and higher duty cycle is higher power; more heat;...

re speed of scrolling.
Find the following section of code and reduce the value 30 to speed up scrolling.

while(!ret){
if ((timer+30) < millis()) {
ret=dmd.stepMarquee(-1,0);
timer=millis();
}

Re: Help with scrolling Text

Thanks for the reply. The info. for the constant current regulator says it will regulate both current and voltage and I will be supplying it with 5v from a regulated power supply so how could the voltage ever go higher? Is the microprocessor really regulating the current when its powered through the...

Re: Help with scrolling Text

OK Thanks, I get it,so would something like this then limit the current as required? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-Module-Constant-Current-Voltage-Adjustable-/390316505427 Its certainly cheap enough to give it a try. I have a 4A powersupply running it now but did notice that when its running of ...

I have a 4A powersupply running it now but did notice that when its...

Re: powering with 5v

csconsulting wrote:Yes you can.

The 5 volt rail is common to the entire circuit, so if you apply power to that rail, you can power the microcontroller.

Thanks :) Thats going to make things much simpler.

powering with 5v

I've set up dual DMDs controlled by my Eleven. The DMDs are powered via a small 5v power supply. I'd like to power the Eleven from this same power supply and I see the USB connection supplies 5V whilst the separate power plug wants 7 - 12v. I could just get another USB mini plug and connect it to 5v...
